To invite children is always a big dilemma. I think it all depends on the type of wedding you wish to create.
If you are thinking of getting married in Rome and hosting your reception in a very elegant 5 star hotel, I would shy from inviting lots of children. But if you are thinking of getting married in Tuscany in a Villa with lots of room for them to run around then I think it adds a charm. It is also lovely to hear the laughter from the little people!
Lets not forget Italy is about as child friendly as it could get, which means there are lots of child friendly venues to chose from! Children like us grown ups love Italian food especially gelato!
You have to weigh up all sides of this question, will it upset your friends if you say no to the apple of their eyes coming to your wedding especially if you are having a destination wedding in Italy, OR will your friends see it as a wonderful opportunity to have a weekend away child free?
If you do decide to have children at your wedding will there be things for them to do, space for them to play safely and people willing to keep an eye on them?
Then there is the one question which may force your hand, do you have the budget to include children in your wedding reception?
I have always found with the weddings we have organised that the presence of children is a pleasure, the venues have always gone out of their way to look after their needs and our English speaking babysitters and child entertainers have been wonderful!
My only words of wisdom is chose your location with children in mind if you know there will be lots of children at your wedding. Locations where they can not run around, not just on the day of your wedding but the duration of your wedding weekend, should be avoided in order to have happy children and relaxed parents!
