The tradition of throwing
rice at the bride and groom goes way back to the Romans and today in Italy it
is still very much alive! While many bride and grooms keep with traditional
rice many couples (and their friends) have looked towards other items to
use as confetti. I have rounded up my favourites and more to inspire you!
You won’t find a prettier smelling recessional tossing item than lavender! Showering the bride and groom with bits of lavender is simply dreamy, no? As guests mill around and photographs are taken the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of lavender.
One of the most popular recessional tosses involves rose petals. Personally, I love the idea of showering the bride and groom with rose petals as they walk back up the aisle together as husband and wife.
Ribbon wavers perfect if you are not allowed to throw confetti!
One of my favourites! A balloon release! Its pretty and visual and makes for great photos!
Paper confetti, I'm a big fan of the paper confetti poppers that shoot the confetti high in to the air!
Bird seed is another fun idea but be warned if you are getting married in Siena or Venice you will have a few feathered friends at your feet!
So there you have it! A TON of wedding recessional/exit/sendoff/getaway ideas for you to peruse and drool over. Honestly, there are TONS more, but I had to cut myself off sometime. Is there a unique wedding toss you’ve witnessed, been a part of, or even had at your wedding? Let us know in the comments below!
