When Sara first wrote to me asking for information, she introduced herself and her fiance as ''living in the US and love to travel!'' Sara and Jason had never been to Italy before, but Sara's great grandmother was from the old country and they felt it would be an ideal way to connect their past with their future!

Destination wedding in Italy = a bargain!
A new study by Travelex shows that a record number of British couples are heading abroad to get married in a bid to avoid the spiralling costs of UK weddings. They found an increase of 15% of british couples decided on a destination wedding. That means as many as 80,000 Brits will shun the UK in favour of a foreign wedding over the next 12 months.

Vintage wedding in Cortona
When Kyla and Justin first contacted us here at The Italian Wedding Planner asking if they could get married in Italy with less than 3 weeks to plan and prepare all the documents I thought 'I do think this is possible.' It was later that Justin told me that he had contacted several wedding planners on the same night that they decided to get married while on holiday in Italy and we were the only ones who stood up and said lets try!

Last minute destination wedding in Italy
When is the right time to start planning a destination wedding in Italy? In an ideal world I would say give yourself just over a year, that way you will get the opportunity to visit the venue at the same time of year your wedding will be celebrated.

Laura and Chris's Tuscan wedding part 2
Laura and Chris's stunning wedding in Tuscany was split over two days, click here to view their civil wedding in Italy. Laura is an inspiration, she not only hand made her first wedding dress she also made her bridesmaids dresses! Their wedding was full of beautiful personal touches, Laura's attention to detail and her personal style shines through on her very special day! Let's not forget the Groom who was looking dapper in an Aquascutum suit and Ferragamo shoes (a nod to the owner of Il Borro!) for the civil ceremony!

Couples celebrating a civil wedding in Italy are surprised at the stateliness of the civil ceremony. The Representative of the state wearing the traditional Italian red, white and green sash reads the articles of law governing the rights and responsibilities of married couples in Italian and is simultaneously translated into English.

Classic Italian style!
After MANY MANY years together Dawn and Darren finally walked down the aisle!
In a weekend celebration they kept the focus firmly on why they were there. Making a decision to invest their energies in the things that are important to them and have managed to cement themselves in my mind as the couple who’s wedding day was not only a true reflection of their personalities but very much about their commitment to each other in front of their friends and families. It was a honour to have translated at their wedding and to have been a part of their very personal weekend of food, wine and much laughter!
