As the Chinese New Year celebrations get underway, the colour Red comes out in force! Symbolising good fortune and joy in Chinese culture it is traditionally the colour of happiness and good luck making it very popular in Chinese weddings. So lets rub some luck on to our 2012 brides and bring on the RED wedding inspiration!
The bride
Reem Acra resort 2012 |
As I searched for a red wedding dress this stunning Reem Acra red gown took my breath away!
Wearing a red wedding dress is not for the faint hearted, if you like the idea playing with red but you shy from making such a big statement, you could always opt for a a splash red petticoat to wear under your dress...
The groom
The groom and groomsmen can also have fun with red, from a red tie and buttonhole to red converse trainers! But what can also double as a great gift for the groomsmen and more so when a groom getting married in Italy, are these fun red vespa cufflinks!
The bridesmaids
Selena Gomez looks simply stunning in this floor length Dolce & Gabbana red gown. |
Red works well on most women and if you chose the right dress for your girls, it can add a very elegant touch to your wedding style.
The flower girls
I am a big fan of flower girls in simple white or ivory dresses and Perfume river have a lovely selection of flower girl dresses and matching sashes; plus shoes and children's tiaras. Their sale is still on so snap up a bargain!
The shoes
I love a hint of colour and red bridal shoes certainly fall in to that category! If you are a traditional bride but you also want to step out from the predictable, clicking your heals, a pair of fab red shoes is the way forward!
The setting
Sometimes red settings can look a bit old fashioned, keep it light by using just hints of red rather than going the whole hog. Using a table runner or under plates is a simple way to bring in the colour with out over powering the setting. Mixing red with another colour helps tone the shock of red down!
The flowers
Choosing a bouquet that captures the spirit of your style is never easy, especially when you move away from the traditional white bridal bouquets. Play with ribbons, shapes and don't be afraid to use a mix of different shades of red and pinks.
The transport!!
Fiat 500 wedding car! |
It has to be a red fiat 500! Some of you may have noticed I have a thing for fiat 500's and vintage Alfa Romeo's. BUT if you are getting married in Italy what is better than having a symbol of Italy as part of your wedding!
As with any colour, the trick is don't over do it but have fun with it!
