Vintage Brides

The past couple of weeks we have been preparing for one of life's eventualities, the passing of my 92 year old grandmother. Whilst the loss of a mother and grandmother is not without grief, the  joy of looking back on her life and through all her photos has been fascinating! Trying to work out who all the beautiful young people are in the photo's taken in her youth, but what I found much more exciting is all the wedding photographs! There’s just something about vintage wedding pictures that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. (Unfortunately I could not take any of the photos with me to scan them but I may try when I am back for the funeral next week!)

Downton Abbey Lady Mary's wedding dress

Yippy Downton Abbey is back and I am a big fan, also did I mention  that I like a good wedding... Oh the first episode did not disappoint!  So I have pushed the planned blog post to tomorrow,  to share the much awaited wedding of Lady Mary to Matthew Crawley and it was perfect!
Her dress... 1920's understated elegance but the beautiful diamond-encrusted tiara in the shape of a garland of leaves with little floral buds was for me, the crowning glory!

1920's

An age of decadence, grand baubles, sumptuous fur stoles, feminine frocks in vintage creams and neutrals, retro waves, and delicate lace kid gloves. Fascinating time, the Great Gatsby era, and quite the style inspiration!
