Capture the magic - focus on photographers
Not all photographers can take a good photo, you have to do a little research to find photographers who have an eye for the detail, who weave magic and capture the very essence of the day.
Don't allow a wedding planner to tell you to use one particular photographer, the chances are they are on commission and are not giving you an impartial opinion. Ask to see about 10 different photographers, so you can compaire their different styles and just like when you saw 'the dress' for the first time, you just know when you have found the wedding photographer with a style that would work best for you.
Your planner can tell you what it is like to work with that photographer, are they bossy, friendly, make people feel at ease, do they help set up a photo, are they still passionate about the job they do, do they capture all the details you worked hard on putting together and does the planner enjoy working with them.
Here at The Italian Wedding Planner, we like to send out a list of photographers with links to their web sites so you can see a portfolio of their work. If there is a chance to introduce you to the photographer during your visit then we ask that the photographer shows you an example of a complete wedding so you don't just get to see the best shots but how the photographer captured the wedding day.
Once you have made this little bit of an effort you will feel content that you have chosen the right person for your day!
Today we are starting a series of posts 'Capture the magic - focus on photographers' and look forward to introducing you to many wonderful photographers!
Enjoy!

The first dance...
The ceremony was beautiful, the meal out of this world, you got through the speeches with out too many embarrassing moments thanks to the best man and then there comes this moment when you are standing in the middle of the room and everyone have their eyes focused on you, watching you 'dance'... You hope that someone joins in, your eyes search for your parents, the best man and the bridesmaids begging them to get on the dance floor! About now is when you wish you took a few dance lesions...

June: weddings in Umbria...
Helen and Ross were married in the grounds of the beautiful Torre di Moravola near Montone in Umbria. With a romantic ceremony in the garden and a delicious dinner celebration afterwards, their day was truly magical. Take a look at the talented Leo Patrone photographs, who captured their day so perfectly!

Flirty, fun and very feminine!
Anneli Marinovich |
A veil is one of the main elements which transforms a bride in to a Bride! With lots of different options lengths, styles, colours and designs choosing the right one is very much a personal choice. The birdcage veil is popular with brides who may not want or suit the full veil but still want that romantic elegance of a veil. Both modern and vintage rolled in to one, the birdcage veil makes a statement!

Hidden delights of Umbria
Ahh love this video showcasing some of the delights on offer in Umbria and this blog by (I think) one of the bloggers from this trip http://monkeysandmountains.com/perugia-umbria . Lets hope there will be many more blogs to come on this beautiful region! I know I am going to book the donkey trekking this summer :)

Recessional tosses, Getaways, Exits & Sendoffs!
The tradition of throwing
rice at the bride and groom goes way back to the Romans and today in Italy it
is still very much alive! While many bride and grooms keep with traditional
rice many couples (and their friends) have looked towards other items to
use as confetti. I have rounded up my favourites and more to inspire you!

Lake Garda, a wedding with a view!
Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy sits nestles in the heart of the mountains, with sparkling blue water reflecting the dramatic hills at the foot of the mountains, covered in pale green olive trees and darker cypresses, while the scent of bougainvillea permeates the balmy air. So apart from all that what makes Lake Garda such a special location for a wedding?

Sarah and Jonathan Italian wedding part 3
The last installment of this beautiful Tuscan wedding. This time it’s about the reception, speeches and well… dancing of course (with a few sunset portraits thrown in). Guests were treated to another surprise as a “secret room” was unveiled to be the location for the evening party. It was definitely my favourite room in the castle – with its arches and cave-like structure, accompanied by low seating furniture and hundreds of candles, it was simply magical. I won’t say too much more, I hope the pictures will speak for themselves.

Sarah & Jonathan's Italian wedding Part 2
Sarah & Jonathan got married at Castello di Montegufoni, a lovely Tuscan castle half an hour away from Florence. It is such a great idea to have a “wedding weekend” instead of just a wedding day – their guests were treated to a tour of Siena and wine tasting before the welcome dinner the night before the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, everyone had breakfast al fresco and proceeded to relax by the pool or explore the ground, while the commotion of decoration and preparation began. The whole event was documented by the talented Shella from London.
