As winter approaches and my friends in the UK inform me Christmas stock is already out in the shops my mind turns towards this magical time of year!  I have always loved the winter season, lots of candle light and roaring fires, lush rooms decorated in frescoes, warm red wines and rich dishes of food!
This year we have seen a noticeable increase of couples wishing to get married in the winter months and here are the top 5 winter wedding destinations in Italy!

1940's vintage inspiration!

Tuesdays moving vow renewal in Venice,  after 70 years of married life, started me thinking what the bride and grooms first wedding would have been like in the 1940's...

Downton Abbey Lady Mary's wedding dress

Yippy Downton Abbey is back and I am a big fan, also did I mention  that I like a good wedding... Oh the first episode did not disappoint!  So I have pushed the planned blog post to tomorrow,  to share the much awaited wedding of Lady Mary to Matthew Crawley and it was perfect! 

Her dress... 1920's understated elegance but the beautiful diamond-encrusted tiara in the shape of a garland of leaves with little floral buds was for me, the crowning glory!

Inspirational!

Liliane Deauvergne and Jean Korde are an inspirational couple! Celebrating 70 years of marriage today, which they have called a 'marriage of iron!' by renewing their vows in the town hall of Venice. The groom who is about to celebrate his 92nd birthday and the bride aged 87, have travelled to Venice every year for the past 30 years, making it a very personal location for them to celebrate this special day! Every one here at TIWP wish them a beautiful day and many many more to come!

A day in the life of a destination-wedding planner in Italy!

 Recently I saw this image on face book, that shows a pie chart of how a wedding photographer splits his or her time. It highlighted that only a very small % of the time is actually spent taking photos of the wedding. Whilst I often laugh with my wonderful photographers, as they sign off after the first dance or the cutting of the cake, that they are part timers, I think people forget all the work that goes in to their photographs. It made me wonder what the pie chart would look like for a wedding planner...
