British consulate is closing in Florence and Venice

In order to save costs the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office are closing their doors in Venice and Florence.  All consular services are being moved to Milan...

How will this affect British couples getting married in Italy?

Hopefully it wont! But it does mean that all documents are to be sent via the post and that all Nulla Osta for couples wishing to get married in Tuscany northwards will be issued in the British consulate Milan.

My advice is get your notice of no impediment in to Milan 6 months before your wedding date. They are going to be inundated with paperwork and it is best that you plan in advance giving them time they will require to process your paperwork.

Will this effect last minuet weddings?

The British consulate in the past has worked wonders at producing Nulla Ostas within a matter of weeks. I am sure they will have maned the Milan office sufficiently and will be able to cope with last minuet requests but you should still give yourself no less than a month!
